Overlooked/Under-appreciated eras in artists' careers

So I was thinking today that many artists have had a period in their career that is often overlooked, despite it containing some quality stuff.
Two examples:
Magnum - Everything pre-Storyteller's. Very prog, very dynamic and Clarkin's lyrics were fantastical tales of magic and wonder. Really well-written, well-performed and there are some outstanding tracks on the early albums nowadays overlooked in favour of On A Storyteller's Night and everything that came afterwards.
Bruce Springsteen - Before Born To Run 1975 and his subsequent stadium rock anthems, he put out two incredible albums with a more prominent jazz/soul influence in the early seventies; Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ and The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle. Especially the latter is spectacular. Groovy and epic with outrageous lyrics! Each song containing more words than a standard album. Stunning stuff!
Anyone got any other examples of overlooked eras?
