They are both very good albums, the debut is very laid-back, smooth westcoast-y compared to the new one.
The new one however is probably the best album released in 2012 (although it was technically released in 2011). Superb playing, great vocals, clever songwriting, great sound.
I really hope they release more material together.
It's a shame these guys weren't on Frontiers radar when they were manufacturing their own version of Giant. Larry King on vocals and John Blasucci on keys with David Huff & Mike Brignardello and John Roth on guitar would have put together an excellent album, in my mind (under whatever name, to be honest). They'd bring together the cream of the California AND Nashville session artist scene.
I really hope we hear more from Larry King. He's one of those guys like Joe Retta or Gene Miller, with this excellent voice, but whose recorded works are really minimal. It's criminal.
