Mitch, I think you summed up my point entirely.

I wasn't suggesting that it was just your psyche, I was making a general sweep of the what we percieve the 'American pysche' to be. Rightly or wrongly thats how the majority of the world sees America.Especially in the UK where gun crime is relatively unheard of it appears more than a little strange and misguided to us. The staunch defence of gun ownership by yourself and others only strengthens that view. (even if it maybe an incorrect one).
