Steve your thoughts reflect a lot of common sense which many in our world don't want to discuss because we all "want our way or nothing". I would ask this about your 2 places of residence. As far a "self defense" I am sure if you have a target license you are allowed to defend yourself within your home? Here in the US the problem we have state laws then federal laws. So that's where the loopholes come in. I want to see a Federal law that is passed then by every state that the rules are one! Look if you lived here in the US and wanted to own a weapon for home defense/collection/target and you are a low abiding person do you care if you have a FULL background check? Of course not.
