A few years ago myself and Nix contemplated moving to the States.

Nix was/is highly uneasy about the whole gun ownership issue and I agreed but did say we would have to have one in the house for our own security.
When you look at it from THAT point of view it is SERIOUSLY scary. I feel no need to have a gun here, because the threat of some arsehole breaking into our house armed with a gun is less than minimal.

This is the whole point you are missing Mitch. You yourself are deluded by this stupid notion that it is a constitional right to own a firearm. As stated before this 'right' has been twisted and is so oout of date its not funny.

Of course I understand their is a cultural difference but the rest of the civilised world shakes its head in disbelief at the seemingly blind obsession that Americans have with guns.
