I've never fully understood why there is such a cultural affinity for guns in this country (US) that in many quarters reaches such a feverish zeal that it's almost equated with basic human freedoms. Talk about a cultural wrong turn. And the statistics for gun violence, which are exponentially higher than anywhere else in the developed world, say all you need to know.


Sure, it may be enshrined in the Constitution, but that was written during a time of war when redcoats could barge into your home and what have you. And regardless, it puzzles me that the ammendment could be interpreted to include the kind of weaponry that should clearly be monopolized by military forces and the police.

Common sense.
