Stevie Ray Vaughan circa In Step. Whereas most musicians get clean and lose their edge he was on top of his game on an album that I consider to be the best example of blues rock soloing ever. Not a wasted note and if I think about it for too long I start feeling depressed that he was taken from when he was hitting top form, with his songwriting and vocal ability having caught up with his guitar playing to make him the complete package. I'd have loved to have seen where he went from there. *sigh*
