Meat Loaf on his Hang Cool Tour.
He can't sing (they can no longer even disguise it) and the female lead looked like a drag queen. I left after 3 songs.
Whitesnake 2 years ago. David Coverdale can't sing, they attempted to hide this with about 40 minutes of piss poor solo-ing (completely changed my opinion of Beach and Aldrich) and the new keyboard player was this bouncy bloke in a beanie hat... just looked like an idiot. I left during the endless shit solo-ing, after I had time to phone my Aunty and help her fix her printer over the phone during the drum solo.
Van Morrison in 2002. Utter bilge. Was barely on stage for more than 3 words per song... reminded me of the jazz singer from The Muppets... very much like Vic Reeves club-style.
Slade last weekend. The Sweet have a really strong current line-up, and played a great rock-based set. Slade had a shit Noddy-impersonator and every song sounded the same. I actually felt quite sad for Dave Hill, nice bloke and loves what he's doing, but it looked like such a bad tribute band, especially after the slick performance of The Sweet.
(It's a shame the current Sweet line-up aren't playing on proper tours, rather than just these 70's package tours. If they played the right material, they'd hold up against any older rock band presently touring with a new singer...)
