Laurent and gary are spot-on. The term "rock 'n' roll" is meant in incapsulate all forms of popular music spanning the last 55-60 years. It covers rock, pop, blues, disco, metal, r&b, hip hop, country rock, folk, rockabilly, punk, new wave, house, hard rock, progressive, etc. I understand why so many on this website would be upset at the RRHF, given the nature of the websites content, however believing that they should cover one or two genres (the ones that you like) and forget the others is a little irresponsible. I have never and will never like Madonnas music but I do recognize her contributions to popular music. I've never listened to Public Enemy, but I do know that they were very innovative in their genre. I don't listen to the Beastie Boys, Brenda Lee or Red Hot Chili Peppers, but they have all contributed in some way. People need to accept that the term "rock 'n' roll" no longer represents Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Buddy Holly.
