There's been a lot of backlash at its sheer mellowness and lack of rockers. I gotta admit, 'Message of Love' is 'Separate Ways' turned on its side, and a few of the other songs are in the same mould as some of their older songs (though not nearly as obviously as some tracks on Revelations).
The songs don't get pulled out very much live any more either. 'When You Love a Woman' gets the occasional live airing (but then it was a number 1 single, so it ought to!), 'One More' was played at the Download Festival a few years ago when Neal was looking for heavier songs to get his teeth into.
Would be interested to hear some of the lesser known album cuts like 'If He Should Break Your Heart', 'Still She Cries', 'Forever in Blue' (I know Jeremy got Neal to rehearse this during his tenure) and 'Colours of the Spirit'.
I guess it's understandable given how closely entwined Perry was with that album, but there's still some great material there.
