It didn't hurt Eddie Van Halen!
Basically Schenker had never had a big seller. He's revered among his peers, but the big, crossover album/hit has never happened for him.
He was very nearly there with his first two solo albums, but he managed to screw that up. Drink, drugs, bad decisions.....
I saw him support Scorpions at Hammersmith and he was dreadful. A shambolic, staggering drunkard. Excellent guitarist, no doubt, but he seems to lack any kind of self respect.
