Despite the fact that Beau Hill got Winger into the spotlight, his work with them on the first two albums really isn't that great. The band's turnaround was when they got Mike Shipley to do "Pull", and since then Kip has come into his own producing for his solo stuff, the classical albums, and the last 2 Winger albums. Although on "IV" I think he should have pulled back a bit on the 'modern/alternative' sound, by "Karma" he apparently went back to the band's roots.
So as far as the list goes...
Not-so-hot: Beau Hill, Mutt Lange
Working on it: Kip Winger
I'd give a listen, at least: Mike Shipley
The Master: Alan Parsons
