WSC, to me, is two albums. The first half of the album is very pop. The second half (call the dividing line somewhere around Rebel Son) is a rock album with a very pop production. Lyrically, most of that album is deeper lyrically than VS.

There are certainly some very pop songs on there, but the production has a LOT to do with the feel of the album. Compare the sound of Is This Love on the album to the more recent JJ Firest live recording. Production/mix changes a lot.

Just my thougths on the matter. Obviously, a lot of people disagree with this...
