I think the power metal genre did well in the 00s because it was a chance for rock fans to listen to traditional well produced new albums when there wasn't much else about.In the last 5 years or so classic rock,metal and even AOR has had a bit of a surge in popularity again so perhaps there is less of a market for it.Agree there were some great bands but most were based on Priest's Painkiller,Helloween's Keeper albums and Dio.
