One can complain about the 'integrity' of doing it, and the scene, and so on, but...what's not to like? You get to be part of a multi-million dollar MASSIVE show, with top of the line everything. They must have budgets for bad-ass sound, fantastic guitars, great food and accommodation on the road, and Rihanna's pretty hot. Plus a much better payday than playing bowling alleys or whatever with Extreme.

Also, in 2012, having Rihanna on your resume may set you up for more opportunities with the labels, or other big name acts, than being "that guy from the 80s', much as Extreme carried big cred around this noticeboard.

When it comes to worldwide, smash pop acts...Rihanna is what's happening now, like it or not.
