I went through phases where I was only buying one type of music, namely jazz until I was 13 (I started buying LPs with my pocket money when I was 5) and then hard rock only from 13 until 22. Then my tastes started to widen, and I found that diversity is a wonderful gift.

My tastes are very ecclectic and range from Louis Armstrong to Motorhead with a bit of classical music thrown in for good measure!

It was a smart, albeit somewhat logical in a way, move to expose your kid to a lot of different style.
