Re: Ballads - A Different Take

I love ballads . . . when they're really good. That is the problem for me though, it's way more rare for me to be totally grabbed by a ballad.
It often takes far more spins to appreciate the ballads (for me) and for the most part, a ballad is just another ballad. Then, once in a while, a ballad comes along that brings out that special feeling and mood in me . . . rare, but it happens.
I feel that a slow and moody song must be so much better and special for me to be really grabbed by it. I can listen to a melodic singalong or an uptempo rocker without the total indulging feeling, but not when it comes to ballads. If I don't feel it, I skip it.
Not more than 2-3 ballads on an album, I'd say.
