The main reason why Iris doesn't work is the image. Youve got this kid on the Voice TV show wearing a stupid hat and wandering around looking like he's lost.
If you took that same exact vocal performance and put a cool-looking dude with a guitar and a tight backing band, with great stage moves & presence, it would be ok.
Not great...but solid.
