I found the midnight oil tour irrelevant. He could go out and play some dates. He ran for office. He even got his philosophy degree. Doesn't change the fact that he had no idea that he was an icon in a country of 40 million 1/2 way around the world.
People love to shit on Cinderella stories. Me, I like to believe there's a pun-kin coach headed down the road to pick me up at any minute....lol
To further my point: I know my cd "the world is round" is being bootlegged and sold out of china. It's on Ebay. Not much I can do. Buuuuuuttt...if you told me I was huge in some city or province in china and was an inspiration to a group of dissidents or young folk fighting the government I would be shocked, amazed and honored. I wouldn't move to china though. It wouldn't be instant success anywhere else. I think it would make a fascinating story though. Which is all i said the movie was. As for the article by lefstetz...he also manipulated some facts, to be the contrarian. Sensationalization is part of the game. Just you tube an episode of "here comes honey boo boo." sensationalism = views.
