He's phenomenal. Due to when he arrived in the industry, he's often classified as an alternative or power pop artist. But there's too much rock (and even a little prog) in his approach to be power pop, and he's got way too much melody to be just another alternative artist.

Great singer, strong songwriter, not always the best lyricist but sometimes excellent. Superb player of nearly every instrument on his albums. Unique and very pleasing singing voice. A real artist.
