Paul, it DOES matter, certainly enough to ask!
Personally I wouldn't have Rick play bass, this is his big moment and the guy has done a 'tremendous' job with the vocals, he deserves to shine and I say let him be the frontman as he won't be playing bass during live shows right? Let him be himself and portray the band as they really are!
Hence... You're going to need a fill in on bass for the live shows right? So what harm is it getting a fill in for the video shoot even if they're only in the background and never really 'identified' kinda crazy but sensible I think!?
Otherwise you could simply throw in some snippets of a bass line being played here and there without actually revealing the 'player' kinda like a watered down stand-in... But knowing the crazy netloop world we live in someone would recognize 'your' hands playing the bass or something LOL...
