The DOKKEN has some great songs, but the mid section is to slow to mid paced and it loses its impact. A few good tracks at the start and at the end. Some typical DOKKEN traits in there. I agree, DD's softer, more even approach tends to lend to a overall relaxed feel within the songs, but if he can't push it anymore..what else can he do? I can deal with that I guess, I mean come on..we are comparing him to his best work of 25 years ago! What I find harder to get into, is this habit he/the band has of using that Egyptian, Asian type of melody..in the vocals and the melodies and riff's. On one or two tracks, oK..but they seem to use it a lot. Couple of tracks on this have a MAIDEN-ish vibe and of course, SCORPIONS.
FADE AWAY, parts of that are re-writes of STOP FIGHTING LOVE on 87s BFTA.
Sonically, its sounds great. The playing is excellent. Overall..I like it, but its not a classic. 6 tracks I really like, the rest I can take it or leave it.
