It's thinned out a bit...but that's just the ageing process. His low range has gotten a bit rough at times (see the opening lines of So Let It Rain), but the upper range sounds as good as ever. Rather odd, as most people lose the upper range.
Still, it's possible that Magnum is doing things different than most bands. Wild Angels was downtuned when they did it live--and that's not all that high. I'm wondering if they are writing/recording in the old keys, then lowering everything live so that Bob's voice isn't taxed as much while on tour. I've never heard of anyone down-tuning the new material, but it's an interesting way of doing things. That way, if you listen to the cd, it sounds like nothing has really changed, but you are preserving the voice for the live shows.
