Many of those closest to him saw this coming...and believe me, like so many others who cared for him, I tried to convince him that he had options available. MANY options, presented by those many people who felt his life was worth living...
Sad to say, he could not see past the situation and beyond some very resolute and unfortunate decisions he had come to about what was truly important in life. He spent a long time trying to circumvent the events unfolding in front of him - and time was not exactly a luxury for him given the circumstances. I wish I could say otherwise, but he was ultimately unable to navigate the challenges he faced, no matter what level of help he was offered.
No matter how the situation developed it was tragic to have personally watched/listened to him drastically deteriorate over the past year and a half to the point where normal conversation and reason was no longer possible.
All regrettably moot at this point. Another good guy is needlessly gone...and it just stinks beyond belief.
