The Cult rock dude, I love 'em. The only albums I own are Sonic Temple, Ceremony and Pure Cult. Sonic Temple is a classic in my opinion, tracks like Fire Woman, Edie (my favourite ballad by a mile), Sweet Soul Sister, Soul Asylum, Soldier Blue, Wake Up Time For Freedom, in fact short of listing the whole album these would be my standout tracks. No fillers on this disc at all.

The Ceremony album was a bit thin unfortunately, but still had Wild Hearted Son and probably my favourite track on the disc "If". This album on the whole went in a very earthy direction though and wasn't as consistent.

I agree with everyone who's posted, get Pure Cult, its got the best range of songs pre Ceremony that the Cult has to offer, and there's no living without "She Sells Sanctuary", "Love Removal Machine" and "Wildflower".

Ian Astbury's vocals sound like no other, hard to believe he's a pom actually in both looks and sound, Billy Duffy although not the biggest name in guitar does a great job, doing what's necessary without it getting overblown, Matt Sorum appears of drums there somewhere and you've even got Bob Rock in the production credits.

My advice: get Pure Cult and Sonic Temple. You'll be complete then.

Cheers and beers

Benno
