I have mixed feelings about Halestorm. The potential is absolutely massive and Lzzy has amazing pipes. But the songwriting isn't at the same level of that potential - some stuff is good, but a large chunk of it ho-hum and pedestrian (as noted above). Some of their most interesting moments come in the covers album, not coincidentally.

I think they need to partner up and collaborate with a strong producer/songwriter(s) that can help them mature and develop further. This has certainly been the key for many other bands, whether that guy was Fairbairn, Mutt, Keith Olsen, Marti Fredriksen, etc.
