"There are a gazillion bands now and radio is playing them but the MTV crowd is still hanging on Eminum and Limp Bizkit.
Neve...Marv 3...SR-71...Nine Days...Evan And Jaron...the list is endless."

For my thoughts on this, please read my post a little further down the board (ie, the one addressed to Koogles). It's pretty detailed, if I do say so myself.

...You are absolutely right in comparing the new country scene to the AOR/MHR/metal scene of the '80s and early '90s. It is getting saturated. That's not to say that it's gonna fade out to the extent that "our" scene did in the '90s, but it's eventually gotta slow down.

"I totally love the new country as to me, it has everything we loved about 80s AOR (not stuff like Ratt, I'm talking AOR) and brought
it forward. I just picked up the Keith Urban disc...sounds great! Could have been produced by Mutt or Dann Huff...same sound...a
male Shania."

...Kurt, I suspect your feelings about the new country scene stem from the fact that it's a fairly new discovery for you. For those who have been into the scene since '94 or so, it's been a rather long ride. Some of 'em are bound to get tired of it. I know my wife, my sister-in-law, and a number of our family's friends have. They used to be big fans of new country music, but have just grown tired of it over the last year or two. I don't think that that's any indication as to the quality of the new country music that's out there these days either. Again, I just think that it's had a rather long reign, and that the marked is becoming somewhat saturated. Just my $0.02.
