Certain bands that do a limited tour have found some degree of success without airplay, although admittedly they're more in the Power Metal genre. Within Temptation, Edguy, Hammerfall, and Primal Fear have all played America with little or no airplay and done relatively well. At least they've all played here several times, so they must be doing something right.
