Obviously I disagree. I agree that the channels of distribution for such niche muusic as ours have become difficult and anyone who genuinely uses mp3 as a try before you buy is doing nothing wrong. But whree does try before you buy become "try it for a while to see if I'll keep it" or "just take the best songs and excuse myself from paying for it on the grounds i'd never buy the whole cd". I think if you try to take an honest line the whole thing is fraught with difficulties. Most Cds - even the ludicrously obscure - have some element of samplers / tasters on some web site which are left there in order to allow you to sample the music. If there aren't then the artists in that case are the ones to blame for not promoting their music. And yes .. i did shell out $30 for my first Robby Vlentine Cd without having heard any of his music. Maybe my personal circumstances allow me to do that without any worry but then part of this whole debate seems to be based round a premise that everybody whould have access to as much music as they want and that there is no economic side to that restricting what you can buy .... it's suppsed to be a free market over there in the USa not a free for all market.
