Ted,
Cool that you replied. The set was great. The Melodica songs sounded WAY better live and I never thought I'd get to see 'Under the Gun' played live. Now then...
My criticism of the 'Lovemetal' title is based on the fact that I would love to see you sell SHITLOADS of records and be able to play other gigs rather than a small club in Wigan once a year. I don't wanna sound negative but personally I think that title is likely to generate a lot of sniggers from people who don't need much of an excuse to put this sort of music down. Realistically I'm aware that this is a pretty 'underground' scene these days but many of us have experienced playing 'unknown' or 'obscure' melodic rock bands to people who have never heard of them and got a 'Wow! What's this?' reaction.
In order to get beyond the current fanbase for melodic rock bands/artists and labels need to start thinking on a more global level in terms of distribution, packaging and, of course, content. I'm not suggesting you compromise your music. Hell no, the Danger Danger lyrics were hilarious, (you were laughing wern't you?) just maybe take some independant advice in putting these things together.
Off me? Why should you. Every knob can get his opinion on the web these days and I'm pretty sure there's a few contributors to this board who'll be glad to include me in that category. I just hope that anybody who works with you has the balls to tell you what they think rather than what you want to hear.
Looking forward to your own actual solo album though.
By the way the Surfpunk thing came from an old area manager of mine that told me everytime he saw 'Bill & Ted' he thought of me coz I was the 'archetypal Surfpunk-metal-fan! And I thought...COOL!! And it just stuck with me.
