It's a good question, but I don't think you are going to get an honest answer....IMHO , I think that any label that creates all releases in the same vein, trying to sell to the same niche market, would have to release a gem ocassionally, but i also think that there are a good deal of 'same songs-same type band' releases that only hurt the validity of the label. If a label has one standout artist with a certain sound, they should nurture that sound, and look for other artists to develop. they should not just use players from one band to form another, that only succeeds in potentially harming their own sales.
