Mac,here's my two cents worth. I'm a huge Aldrich fan (and Swan fan to a lesser extent) and I rate that album one of the biggest disappointments of all time. A sell out to the grunge that was around at the time. Has one or two good songs (Holy War rocks bigtime,Aldrich shreds on this) but overall a big drop in the standard of songwriting. If you like rock/metal that is catchy I would leave it alone."Blood" IMO was not to the standard of the first album but was still good, this one was a far bigger drop in standard.

In other words if you like Aldrich's work in Hurricane,House of Lords,Lion etc.....and like BMR songs like Blood on the Streets and Darkside of Babylon I really can't see Opium... being anything but a disappointment. whatever you decide, don't buy it blind like I did!
