It could have happened from what I hear. Or, let's just say I hear Cain and Schon were mulling it over.

The association is certainly there. Cain produced one of Bolton's albums didn't he? And Schon played lead guitar on "Dock of the Bay".

As a matter of fact, I saw Bolton at Disneyland back in '85 or '86, right when "Dock of the bay " was going strong, but before he became the star he is today (or should I say "was"). Anyway, Cain was playing keyboards and Vallory was playing bass. That's 2 members of Journey right there.

Somehow, I just can't even imagine what that might have sounded like.

Well....to be honest, it DID happen. Bolton did perform once with Journey back in the late 80s for a benefit thing that Perry could not attend (or didn't want to...or something). What came a lot closer to happening was Kevin Chalfant leading Journey. He performed with them in '93 for a benefit for Herbie Herbert (another Perry no-show) and was actually writing with them about '94-95 just before Perry came back for TBF. Just more for the history books...
