The Szuters take their name from 2 brothers Mike & C J Szuter who formed the band. They were called Outta The Blue before changing the name.
Mike Szuter is a musical genius and is so talented it is not fair on others.
He is an excellent lead guitarist, bassist singer and songwriter. He plays bass with Paul Gilbert's live band and toured Japan with him recently. He is featured on the
Live cd and plays like Billy Sheehan.
Musically Outta The Blue was big stadium rock like a cross between Mr Big, Enuff
Znuff, Cheap Trick and Extreme. Great melodies and musicianship and why the never made it is beyond me.
They changed their name to The Szuter's and have released 3 cds in Japan. All are worth their weight in gold. Paul Gilbert worked with them on the 1st 2 "Meet The Szuters" and "American Pop". These are pretty much in the same style as the Outta The Blue material. A few songs from the OTB demos made the Szuters cds. There is a new cd just out called "Not Quite Budokan" and this is awesome power pop. This is moving away from their early sound and is much more Cheap Trick and Enuff Znuff and a lot less Mr Big and Extreme.
Prior to the new cd the band also recorded a 6 track ep and a 4 track limited
edition demo cd. These are also great and are available from the bands website as is a cd of Outta The Blue songs. Brilliant stuff indeed.
