No offence Geoff, but I couldn't think of anyone worse. He doesn't have the range and power of Sammy and I really can't imagine him singing any Dave era song too well.(ie getting the mood/humour right) Can you imagine Darren Wharton singing Jamie's Cryin? If Darren gets back to singing stuff like Abandon I'll be happy to let him stay with Dare.
Yea, I agree here. He really doesn't have the range to hit the high notes of the Sammy-era, nor the attitude of the DLR-era. In addition, he feels that the Blood From Stone cd (which is the "closest"--and I say that in a VERY loose context--Dare got to VH) is not the kind of music he is interested in now...and I guarantee you that if VH released Dare's "Calm Before the Storm", they would lose the majority of their fanbase because it's everything VH does NOT stand for (and I love CBTS for what it is, but a hard rock cd, it is not). On the other side of the coin though, Sammy or DLR on vox would kill the Dare cds. Darren Wharton definitely has his talents...fronting a band like Van Halen would be a serious misuse of them though--something akin to letting/making DLR sing some of the Journey songs. It just wouldn't work...
