RE: David Coverdale's Into The Light - Vandenberg

I would agree that the new Coverdale effort is very good. To me, some of it sounds like an extension of the Coverdale/Page (one of my favorites of all time) and his two solo albums from the 70's. I just got the remasters of Whitesnake and Northwinds and some of the ballads are amazing.
It's probably to his credit that after so many years with Whitesnake, the new album doesn't really sound like Whitesnake.
And to echo what someone already wrote, I think the three Vandenberg albums were very good and certainly better than what he did with Whitesnake. (Although Starkers in Tokyo had some nice guitar moments.)
For me, the Coverdale/Sykes combo was fantastic and it would be nice to see them together again. However, great history is not often re-made in the music business in my opinion.
Heck, I'd even like to see Coverdale do a short stint with Marsden and Moody. I know M&M get slagged as a "tribute band" these days, but the fact is some of those old Whitesnake songs were wonderful and it would be a shame never to hear them again in a live setting. I think it's nice they still play some of those songs as they work with new material and it would be great to hear the three of them again, if only for a "one night only" show. (To be recorded for a live album, of course.)
