RE: David Coverdale's Into The Light - Vandenberg

I have not heard Into the Light yet but I would like to add to your comments concerning Adrian Vandenberg.
Your claim that Whitesnake was all downhill after Vandenberg's arrival is true. However, I would blame that decline FAR more heavily on the departure of the great John Sykes. Vandenberg was a replacement for Sykes and he's just not as good in the role for Whitesnake. Add to the fact that the genre practically died at that time...
In addition, I feel its important to note that Vandenberg made three very good albums in the 80's with his own band (Vandenberg, Heading for a Storm, Alibi). All three of these are excellent hard rock CD's.
So...to sum it up...Vandenberg was not a good match for the gig in Whitesnake (Steve Vai was, however)....John Sykes is one of the greatest hard rock guitarists/song writers on the planet (still today!).....Whitesnake is pretty much history and Coverdale is still making music anyway!!! It's all OK in the end...
Cheers!
