Five is gonna be hard to make, three definate and the rest...well...we'll see where it goes. I might buy 5-10 albums a month but so much of it is either replacing vinyl/cassettes or is just so disappointing it collects dust somewhere on the shelf after one listen that only the immediately pleasing stuff gets played.

Motorhead - We Are Motorhead
I've raved before about this I know, but its an amazing album. Just straight out big dirty hard rock, some great fast paced numbers like "See Me Burning" and the title track, thunderous mid-tempo shit like "Slow Dance" and "Wake The Dead" (it does, trust me), and there's even a quality ballad on there which no matter how out of place it seems, it just fits right in. Lemmy ain't for everyone, but they're not trying to be for everyone, they just do what they want and it works.

Holy Dio - Tribute to Ronnie James Dio
I've had the Dream Evil album for years, in fact its one of my first purchases, and one of my all time favourites. I've been meaning to get some of his earlier material like Holy Diver and figured this might give me an idea what it is like. Let me say its good, but obviously its missing RJD himself, these songs are going to shine when I find them in their original form I'm sure. Very few of the tracks are very memorable despite being well done, though there are some standout performances. My fav's so far are Doro Pesch's rendition of In Chains and the better-then-the-original Blind Guardian rendition of Don't Talk To Strangers, that is just amazing, I have to stop the disc and play it twice each time around.

Impelliteri - Crunch

I'm quite partial to power metal when its done well and find these albums too few and far between. Put it this way, when Helloween release an album, I turn my ear to a few others in the genre, but not before wearing the Helloween disc out. Crunch is just that - Crunch! Heavy hitting high-tech power metal for the ages, Rob Rock's vocals are a cut above and the playing is tight-as, and the overall sound has some kind've urgency about it, a real edge. The Euro release comes with a bonus disc too - Screaming Symphony - which is ok but nothing in comparison, I mean they're almost ten years apart.

And that's it. The only other discs that hit the player in between at the moment are Van Halen's best-of (I'm actually starting to enjoy the DLR material - oh shock), Ratt's Out Of The Cellar, Almighty's 'Lmighty and...umm...oh Primal Fear's second disc, Jaws Of Death I think its called. It rolled up in one of my latest purchases and I'm starting to get into it now. Bit of old-school Priestness mixed with, oh I don't know, something, sounds good though.

Cor, dribble me up.

Cheers and beers

Benno
