...Im really not sure what state Moon is in right now, but Jeff Paris's last CD (which came only in Japan) has a song he did with Moon called Let It Out. The liner notes state the following:

This is a very special song to me. One of my oldest and dearest friends, Richard "Moon" Calhoun played drums and sang as a member of Rufus (featuring Chaka Khan), and Raydio with Ray Parker, Jr. He later sang with the Strand, produced by Jeff Porcaro, and MTB with guitarist Michael Thompson, for which this song was originally written. A few years ago, he broke his neck in a bicycle accident and was rendered quadraplegic. But in the ultimate act of heroism, he has battled back and is now writing and singing better than ever. Recently Grammy Award winner Erykah Badu recorded his song Stay on her live album. On Let It Out, Moon Calhoun draws upon styles from Paul Rodgers to James Brown, all stitched together in his own unique way.

So there you have it. Sad, but it's good to hear he was able to keep at it somehow.
