The most overrated singer in history is Michael Matijevic. People think he's so great just because he has a powerful voice. To me he is the Yngwie of singers. He has major talent but not a clue as to how to use it. He doesn't know that a well placed scream here and there in strategic spots in a song is much more impressive than just screaming through a whole song. Especially a love song like "Never Let You Go". Those two should form a band and call it "Over The Top".
Yea, Matejevic can go overboard on the glass notes a lot. He does have talent though, but as you mentioned, there is a fine line as to when to use the high note and when to stay low. I used to put Freddy Curci is this category also with regards to the Sheriff cd, but he has been getting progressively better--and using his words mostly, "singing what needs to be sung in the song rather than using a song to sing around it".
