Actually I think Yngwie Malmsteen is way overrated. Fastest is not necessarily better. Taste is much more important. Knowing when to shred and when to just hold a note or bend a string is something that escaped Yngwie.
Slash is too sloppy for my tastes.
Axl Rose sounds like Ethel Murman and the Penguin exploded.
Brett Michaels is very pretty but has a totally average voice.
John Oates = The world's luckiest man = Andrew Ridgely
Macie Gray sounds like Tina Turner very early in the morning
Jack Blades on bass??? Has anyone ever heard him do a run?
Gary Richrath played the same hammer on technique in 7 of every 10 REO songs. Too bad they didn't have Dave Amato from day one.
Oasis is another bad version of the Beatles. They have big fights that totally distract their audience from noticing the mediocrety of the band.
The most overrated singer in history is Michael Matijevic. People think he's so great just because he has a powerful voice. To me he is the Yngwie of singers. He has major talent but not a clue as to how to use it. He doesn't know that a well placed scream here and there in strategic spots in a song is much more impressive than just screaming through a whole song. Especially a love song like "Never Let You Go". Those two should form a band and call it "Over The Top".
There are many more but I gotta go to bed!
