could be. Only way he could go was up after Hardline though, IMO.
I also respect his top five list - he's listed some bloody fine vocalists there.
yea, it was a good list.
F.O.R.D. is gonna blow a gasket (pun intended) at this one, but I don't consider David Lee Roth to be
particularly gifted in the vocal department either. Yet, along with guys like Robin Zander, Steve Tyler, and Eric Bloom, I consider
his voice to be unique.
yea, DLR doesn't exactly have a great voice, but I think it was more about the attitude he projected than actual technical abilities---and why Sammy couldn't sing DLR's stuff as well. Same thing for me between Dave Bickler and Jimi Jamison in Survivor. Technically, JJ was the better singer (as was Sammy in VH), but never had the attitude that came across so well.
And, what's even more important to me, all of the aforementioned singers happen to have made some
music that kicks royal hiney. To each their own and everything, but I just don't understand the need to tell people to stop listening
to an artist because their technical skills aren't quite as proficient as some of the other artists out there.
guess it's because I'm a singer at heart and that I listen to vocals SO much. If the person can't sing, it's really hard for me to like the song. It's just the way I am usually....
