I saw Bon Jovi in 1989 and I didn't think he could sing all that great live then. So I wasn't surprised to hear what an additional 11 years had done to his voice on the Storytellers thing. It happens to the best of singers, especially after they hit 40. If you listen closely to the new U2 songs, even Bono, one of the best singers of the last 20 years is starting to lose some of his vocal power. And that's a truly sad thing.
As for Vince Neil... given the fact that the first Motley Crue album sounds like they had helium piped into the studio (great album though), there's no doubt that his "natural" voice is not the one you hear on the albums. And again, he's older too. All the drinking, smoking, and drugs certainly don't help preserve vocal range either.
yea....out of all the people I have seen live recently that have done a huge amount of touring, the only one who really sounds the same is Phil Collins. To me, he doesn't really sound like he has lost much of anything over the years.
