Marcus was the band fronted by one Marcus Malone. Along with Mother's Finest he was one of the pioneering black hard rock artists in the 70s.
The band only appeared to release a self-titled album for United Artists in 1976. This is the album being re-issued by Zoom Club. It is considered to be one of the classic (yet criminally ignored) albums of the era.
The band included Tim Bogert on bass (ex Cactus, Pipedream and, of course, Beck, Bogert & Appice), guitarist Gene Block (aka Gene Black, later to record with the likes of Device) and drummer Dandy Holmes (who would turn up a few years later in Sabu). Other members of Marcus were guitarists Randall David and Jack Weber
