Hi all,
Robert Hart has two solo albums out :
Cries & Whispers (1989) - Wishing Well recently found me a copy for USD 30.00 which is rather cheap - and "Robert Hart" (1992) - I found my copy in a bargain bin in Johannesburg for USD 2.00 !!!
Cries & Whispers, IMO, could be compared to Richard Marx. The songs are rather soft and the sound is very polished. Does not have the blues touch that can be heard on "Company of Strangers" for instance. Some songs features Michael Landau, Nathan East and JR Robinson. For those who know The Distance, I would say that C&W sails into the same waters.
"Robert Hart" is a rockier album with a less American approach. It features, amongst others, Zak Starkey (The Who), Jim Copley (Paul Rodgers), songwriter Russ Ballard and Chris Childs (Thunder). It's still AOR but the blues influences are more noticeable. Those who like me like Bad Company's Waiting On Love from Stories Told And Untold will not be disappointed by this album which IMO corresponds more to Robert's style than C&W.
Robert joined Company of Snakes (formerly The Snakes) in 1999 and left the band in July 2000 to pursue and concentrate on his songwriting career. Neil Murray told me that, earlier this year, he went to the USA to collaborate with Aerosmith.
Regards. Laurent
