my thoughts on Van Halen situation....

First of all.....I think we should all appreciate what Van Halen has done for rock n' roll. I'm not saying they were the best band ever...but they gave rock a much needed boost in the eighties/nineties. They opened the door for many other hungry bands.....and Eddie was definitely one of the greatest influencial guitarists of this generation. I have him up on a pedestal along with Jimi Hendrix & Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Van Hagar era was ok....had a few decent cd's, but got stale towards the end. Maybe lost a few fans with the hiring of Sammy, but gained a few as well.
I don't even want to talk about the Gary Cherone / VH III era. DEFINITELY lost fans here.
This newest soap opera/rumor mill with David Lee Roth is pretty much doing it for most other fans (other than the die-hards). I'm sure there is alot that goes on behind the scenes that most of don't know about.....but I'm sure with the EGOS involved here things aren't running very smoothly. If DLR has been booted from the band again, it wouldn't surprise anyone.
Its real sad to see such a great band go downhill like this. But like I said earlier, we should still appreciate Van Halen for what they did....they've earned their place in rock n' roll history.
