well, to make a long story short....

Mark Free is a vocalist who was involved with many projects--several of which reached "classic" status. Vocally, he kinda reminds me of a lower pitched Lou Gramm, but can get pretty high up there when he wants to--by far one of the best rock vocalists I have heard.
as your general timeline goes...
1985 -- King Kobra - "Ready To Strike"....hard rock
1986 -- King Kobra -- "Thrill of a Lifetime".....AOR, some pop
1989 -- Signal - "Loud and Clear"...AOR. Foreigner-ish.
1992 -- Unruly Child - "s/t"...hard rock, pop, aor, a bit of everything
1993 -- Mark Free - "Long Way From Love"....keyboard-driven AOR
1994 -- Marcie Free -- "Tormented"...Unruly Child #2, but way heavier
2000 -- Signal "Live"...Live so-so recording from one of 5 live dates the band played
judging by what you like, I would recommend the Signal "Loud and Clear" cd (which was just reissued) and the Mark Free "Long Way From Love" cd. Either of the above would be a good place to start. The LWFL reissue has a bonus cd which includes a live concert in '93 that mixes pretty much everything (King Kobra, Signal, Unruly Child, Solo) and a few extra songs from the LWFL sessions.
without getting too complicated, I would suggest visiting Free's own webpage at www.marciefree.com (don't ask--long story) that has sound samples of all the cds, a much more in depth history and anything else you could possibly want.
Enjoy,
Kevin
