RE: 21 Guns and "Nothings Real" opinions

Mats--
I found "Nothings Real" a little lacking, especially after the power and class of "Salute". The 2nd CD is a little too raw. "New" vocalist Solli (ex-Sons of Angels, Psycho Motel) sounds at times as if he may blow an O-ring trying to reach high notes! Plus, bassist/keyboardist Leif Johanssen seems to have forgotten to plug his ivories in (I can't really hear too many keys in the mix), so there doesn't seem to be as much gloss to the sound as on the 1st disc. I also don't think the songs stand up as well.
This having been said, Gorham still plays as skillfully as ever and Mike Sturgis shows why he is one of the most in-demand drummers in rock/pop today.
All in all, the disc is an above average slice of hard rock (with grunge-y tendencies at times), but not the great AOR/MHR of "Salute". I hope that they try to get Tommy LaVerdi back into the fold, or at least recruit someone else of his vocal caliber, if they choose to record again. Time will tell....
