Gimme a band that at least is willing to try something new here and there rather than hash out the same ol' boring album. It's what killed the genre in the first place.
I'll give HS credit for never making the same cd twice--all of the "legendary" bands never did either (Journey, Survivor, Magnum, Def Lep--well, mainly and many more). I think the problem here is that HS attempted to totally sell out their trademark sound for an attempt at mainstream success. The problem came in that it didn't really work as far as sales go and all it really managed to do was alienate a lot of their core audience. Do I respect them for taking a chance and making a chance instead of just turning out Mood Swings 2, 3, 4, etc? Yes--why would I want to buy the same cd twice????.....Do I think Rubber was a mistake? Yes. What shall be interesting to see is if there is a follow-up.
