It´s difficult for me to describe what´s wrong with Mark Boals´ vox. Basically to me he´s all technique and no feeling. Can hit all the notes but his phrasing is emotionless. Like I say, full marks live - and to be fair, I do quite like his work on Trilogy (You Don´t Remember is classic from beginning to end, guitars, vox, drums, all!) - but I can name a lot of singers whose style I prefer, both in and out of the Malmsteen camp.
BTW, in reply to JoMo - the drummer is the same as on Alchemy - John Macaluso. Actually this is I think the first time that the same band has played on two successive YJM albums (although bass duties are down to YJM too, removing one potential voice of dissent!).
